The first trailer for the espionage thriller "The Bourne Legacy"

The first trailer for the espionage thriller The Bourne Legacy, starring Jeremy Renner, was released online February 8 with the tagline: "There was never just one."

The fourth installment of the Bourne series, which previously starred Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, centers on a new CIA operative, played by Renner, who is welcomed to the Outcome program.

The action-packed footage shows the new hero fighting with fierce precision, in scenes that follow up the previous films' situations.

The cast also includes Rachel Weisz (The Lovely Bones) and Edward Norton (The Illusionist) and reprises roles for Albert Finney, David Strathairn, Scott Glenn and Joan Allen.

Tony Gilroy, who wrote the previous Bourne screenplays, takes on directing this film from an original story, based on Robert Ludlum's novels. He's also directed thrillers Duplicity and Michael Clayton.

The Bourne Legacy releases August 3 in North America, followed by Australia, the UK, Norway, Sweden and Argentina through August, and rolls out in Russia, Germany, France, South Africa and other markets in September.

Victoria Beckham won’t be “pushed” into a Spice Girls reunion?

Victoria Beckham won’t be “pushed” into a Spice Girls reunion, says a source.
Mel B recently let slip that the group want to perform at Britain’s Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations this summer.
Sources close to Victoria claim that although the mother-of-four would consider a reunion she wants the agreement to be on her terms also.
“They never ruled out doing something again and Victoria is enthusiastic about a one-off performance. She’s really busy, but she would find the time to do it. However, she won’t be pushed into anything,” an insider told UK magazine Closer.
Mel B made the blunder when she appeared on Australian television and was asked whether the girl band will perform at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
"Ooh, I think the Queen's Jubilee concert is the event I'd be looking at more closely for that to happen," she told breakfast show Sunrise.
Mel B’s comments have caused quite a stir amongst Spice Girls fans. Victoria is said to be annoyed that her former bandmate let the plans slip, as she now feels obliged to commit.
“Mel b talking publicly about the reunion annoyed Victoria. It was supposed to be top secret until they all agreed.
“Victoria is a bit wary of signing up, especially as Mel’s husband, Stephen Belafonte seems to be trying to muscle in, He’s said he’d ‘be happy to get involved since he manages Mel’s career,’ which raised a few eyebrows,” the source continued.
“Since Mel’s been a judge on The X Factor in Australia, she seems to feel she’s as big a star as Victoria is. In the past, they’ve rubbed each other up the wrong way and are clearly vying for the lead role again.”
Victoria has good relationships with Emma Bunton and Mel C. However, she is not as close to Geri Halliwell and Mel B and is allegedly concerned about the friction this may cause.
“Victoria, Emma and Mel C never clashed that much and she’d love to make them happy by agreeing,” an insider revealed.
“But Geri and Mel B still seem to have a competitive attitude, so Victoria is worried about clashing with them.”

US boxing star Floyd Mayweather will plead guilty in a deal to end two pending criminal cases

Undefeated US boxing star Floyd Mayweather will plead guilty to reduced charges on Wednesday in a deal to end two pending criminal cases, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Tuesday.
Mayweather faced up to 34 years in prison over a domestic violence incident and another charge of battery on a security guard in a dispute involving traffic tickets, but might serve only as little as two days behind bars.
Clark County district attorney David Roger told the newspaper that Mayweather will enter guilty pleas in Las Vegas Justice Court on one count of battery domestic violence and two counts of harassment, all misdemeanors.
Prosecutors retained the right to argue for sentencing under the deal and Mayweather could face $3,000 in fines and a minimum of two days in jail up to a maximum to 18 months behind bars.
Mayweather, 34, was set to have a preliminary hearing on Wednesday on felony charges that included coercion, grand larceny and robbery from a 2010 incident involving ex-girlfriend Josie Harris and their three children.
Mayweather, free on $31,000 bail from that incident, was accused of assaulting her after she told him she was dating another man, police said, and he reacted by striking Harris, threatening his children and taking their cell phones.
The misdemeanor battery charge Mayweather will face stems from striking Harris while the harassment charges come from the threats to his children.
Next week, Mayweather will plead no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge and pay a $1,000 fine for poking a security guard in November of last year over parking violations near his mansion in a gated community.
Mayweather, 42-0 with 26 knockouts, stopped fellow American Victor Ortiz in the fourth round last September to win the World Boxing Council welterweight title. He plans to fight again on May 5 in Las Vegas against an undecided foe.
Boxing fans have longed to see Mayweather test himself against the fighter many fans consider to have replaced him as the world pound-for-pound champion, Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao.

Co-founder and longtime CEO Steve Jobs has passed away.

According to a statement just issued by Apple’s Board of Directors, company co-founder and longtime CEO Steve Jobs has passed away.

Apple has also put up the following website in memory. They’re asking for “thoughts, memories, and condolences” to be shared by way of this email address: rememberingsteve@apple.com

It was only a little over a month ago that Jobs stepped down as CEO saying at the time, “I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.”

Jobs remained Chairman of the Board at the company, as well as director and an Apple employee. He recommended that company COO Tim Cook take his place as CEO. Yesterday, Cook gave his first keynote address as CEO, unveiling the new iPhone 4S.

While that device had been the focal point of Apple’s website for the past 24 hours, Apple.com is now simply dedicated to Jobs, using a famous picture of him (above) that will also grace the cover of his upcoming biography by Walter Isaacson due out next month.

Jobs had battled cancer, and in 2004 had an operation related to the disease. In recent years, illness had forced him to step back from his role as CEO of Apple on separate occasions. He also had a liver transplant in 2009 during one of those medical leaves.

But after each battle, he came back and continued his amazing work at Apple. In 2007, he unveiled the iPhone. In 2010, the iPad. His last appearance on stage was at Apple’s 2011 WWDC conference in San Francisco. There, he laid the groundwork for Apple’s latest innovations including iOS 5, OS X Lion, and iCloud.

Jobs was 56 years old. Rest in peace, Steve.

The release from the company below:

Statement by Apple’s Board of Directors

CUPERTINO, Calif. — We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.

And the message on Apple’s website:

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" summoned up $92.1 million domestically on opening day Friday.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Harry Potter has cast his biggest spell yet with a record-breaking first day at the box office for his final film.

Distributor Warner Bros. reports that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" summoned up $92.1 million domestically on opening day Friday.
That's nearly $20 million more than the previous record-holder, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," which took in $72.7 million in its first day two years ago.
The film added $75 million in 57 overseas countries Friday, raising its international total to $157.5 million since it began rolling out Wednesday. That gives the film a worldwide total of about $250 million.

Among its first-day totals Friday was $14.8 million in Great Britain, which Warner Bros. reported was the biggest single day ever for a movie.

The first 3-D film in the series, "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" benefited from the higher price theaters charge for 3-D tickets, which cost a few dollars more than 2-D.

In a single day, "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" took in more money than four of the previous seven
"Harry Potter" films did over their entire opening weekends.

The finale of the "Harry Potter" saga also set a record for midnight screenings with $43.5 million. That topped "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," which pulled in about $30 million in its first midnight shows last year.

Box-office tracker Hollywood.com projected Saturday that "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" also could break the opening-weekend record of $158.4 million domestically held by "The Dark Knight."

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 film will be released only in 2D

Warner Bros. has scuttled plans to release the new "Harry Potter" in 3D.

In a statement released Friday, the studio said that when "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" arrives in theaters on Nov. 19, it will be in 2D, playing both conventional theaters and IMAX, but that "we will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window."

The statement continued: "Despite everyone's best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey."

Director David Yates adds: "This decision, which we completely support, underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first."

Recent 2D-to-3D conversion have been controversial, with many fans and critics complaining about the look of the studio's "Clash of the Titans," which underwent a similar conversion and was released earlier this year.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" is still scheduled to be released in 2D and 3D on July 15th, 2011.
