Kris Aquino vehemently denied that she is dating Makati Mayor Junjun Binay.

(UPDATE) Kris Aquino vehemently denied that she is dating Makati Mayor Junjun Binay.

Kris's far-from-friendly reaction came on the heels of Junjun’s statement, published in the Philippine Star on Sunday, July 17, that he "dated" her.

When Philippine Star lifestyle editor Millet Mananquil asked Junjun to confirm if he and Kris were dating, he was quoted as saying, "Yes, we are good friends. We saw the Justin Bieber concert together, and by gosh, when you’re with Kris, everybody wants to have a picture with her.”

In reply to the mayor's "dating" and "marriage" statements, an obviously irked Kris explained her side using her Twitter account. One of the tweets, which Kris later deleted, aimed to clarify that since her separation from estranged husband James Yap, she has never dated anyone, including Junjun.

"In the 14 months since my separation, I haven't dated anybody. I thought Jun & I were friends but after what I read I've come to the conclusion a gentleman doesn't really say stuff like that especially when it can be read as 'patama' to his friend," she said.

She also reacted to another comment from the Makati mayor regarding marriage.

In the article, Junjun remarked: “Why do people marry? Because of lack of knowledge...Why do people separate? Because of lack of experience...Why do people remarry? Because of loss of memory.”
Kris reacted to the comment also in her Twitter account: “There's a quote attributed to him about marriage, separation & remarrying. I know he tried to be witty, but it offended me.”

Kris later explained her reaction in a follow-up tweet and how she and former husband James Yap are dealing with their separation.

At past 12 noon on Monday, July 18, Kris tweeted, “Thanks to all. May I just explain? I got so sensitive about 'getting married because of a lack of knowledge, separation is a lack of experience, remarrying is loss of memory'- the truth is james & I have learned so much & we won't forget the painful lessons we've learned.”

Kris also tweeted that she maintains her communication with her former husband, James Yap, especially regarding the welfare of their son, Baby James. “We r actually communicating as adult parents of our love, bimby. Just last wk I asked for his approval about a new endorsement Boy (Abunda) is negotiating, because we r co-parents & should be respectful of each other,” Kris said.

Kris also tweeted that she is not proud of her failed marriage and it should have been hers and James’s sixth wedding anniversary last July 10. “When separated & waiting for annulment to be granted there r bad days & sad days- I'm not proud our marriage failed & I cried the whole of july 10- because it would've been our 6th wedding anniversary,” Kris tweeted.

In June last year, Kris said that her marriage with James was over and that the presidential elections also affected their marriage. Since their separation, Kris has been telling in interviews that Baby James doesn’t want her to have a boyfriend yet. “U know y I put my sons 1st? Because they never asked to grow up in a broken home & bimby at 4 yrs old deserves constant reassurance that he's loved by both his papa & mama,” Kris tweeted.

Kris notes that even though she and James have already separated, they try to maintain a peaceful relationship for the sake of their son, Baby James. “That's y james & I try to live in peace, because we love bimby much more than we care about our pride or ego!,” Kris tweeted.
