(PAGASA) is not quite ready to declare that summer is already here
MANILA, Philippines (PNA) -- Summer usually starts in March and warmer weather in the past days could attest to that but the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is not quite ready to declare that summer is already here. The state weather forecasters said on Tuesday the northeasterly and easterly winds can still bring cold nights. "Sa ngayon, di natin masasabi. Malakas pa ang northeasterly winds natin kaya malamig pa ang simoy ng hangin sa gabi at madaling araw. Ang easterlies, malakas sa eastern sections ng bansa kaya meron pa tayong pag-ulan,"(We cannot say summer is already here. The northeasterly and easterly winds are still bringing us cold nights and even rains)," PAGASA forecaster Connie Dadivas said in a radio interview when asked if the warmer weather means summer is here. PAGASA in its Tuesday weather bulletin said the tail-end of a cold front is prevailing over Northern and Eastern Luzon and a wind convergence is affecting Mindanao. In its forecast, the weather agency said that Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Eastern Mindanao which may trigger flash floods and landslides. Northern and Eastern Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be moderate coming from the east and northeast with moderate seas.
