Kris is not retiring from work, says Abunda

MANILA, Philippines – Despite leaving celebrity talk shows “The Buzz” and “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon” last month, Kris Aquino is far from giving up the world of show business, her best friend, King of Talk Boy Abunda, said Wednesday night.

Abunda came to Aquino’s defense anew after some questioned the decision of ABS-CBN to include her in the new noontime game-variety show “Pilipinas, Win na Win.” Her critics noted that her TV comeback was too quick.

Aquino is currently in the United States with her 2 sons, and she will be back on Friday.

On Wednesday Abunda countered on "SNN" that Aquino never said she was retiring. He pointed out that she only quit "SNN" and "The Buzz" to avoid giving her opinions on TV that might affect her brother's reputation, President Benigno Aquino III.

He said: "We didn't say that Kris was retiring. Klaro po yan. Hindi po namin sinabi na si Kris ay iiwan ang telebisyon. Kris has a contract with ABS-CBN. Ang sinabi ni Kris ay mayroon siyang dalawang programang iiwanan at ito po ang SNN and The Buzz. Bakit po? Ito ang mga platforms kung saan sya ay nago-opinionate, siya ay nagbabahagi ng kanyang mga reactions.”

"It was a sacrifice to leave both shows…. Kaya ito pong pagbabalik ni Kris sa ‘Pilipinas, Win na Win,’ na isang programa kung saan makakasalamuha niya ang sambayanang Filipino, magbibigay aliw at kasiyahan, ay hindi talk show. Ito po ay game show na variety show kaya dito siya magbabalik. Maaring siya ay mag-host, maaring siya ay gumawa ng games, sumayaw kumanta but this is not a talk show platform,” he said.

Only recently, Abunda denied rumors that Aquino is pregnant. He is scheduled to have a one-on-one interview with the actress-TV host on Friday.

In the exclusive interview, Abunda said Aquino will address all the controversies hounding her.

Aside from the pregnancy issue and a new show, Aquino is being rumored to be dating a politician and a young actor. The public is also awaiting her next move with regard to her marriage to cager James Yap.

Prior to her 3-week vacation in the US, Aquino has already started legal proceedings to end her marriage to Yap. The professional basketball player, however, vowed to save their marriage. The 2 has a son, 3-year-old Baby James.

Aquino has a son, Josh, from a previous relationship.
